‘Manjummel Boys’ Filmmaker Chidambaram Booked in Sexual Assault Case

Malayalam filmmaker Chidambaram, director of Manjummel Boys, has been booked by Ernakulam Town South Police under Sections 74 and 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita following a complaint linked to alleged misconduct in 2022.
The most popular Malayalam filmmaker Chidambaram has been booked in a sexual harassment case by the Ernakulam Town South police in Kerala. The police confirmed on Monday. The case against the Manjummel Boys director was registered on Sunday. The case was registered according to the complaint by a woman linked to the film industry.
The complainant has charged the director of sexually misbehaving with her, supposedly at an apartment in Kochi city in 2022. Mr. Chidambram has been charged under Section 74, outraging the modesty of a woman and Section 75, sexual harassment offences of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to news agency PTI, officers from the Ernakulam South Police assault investigation registered the case on March 1 after recording the complainant’s report. The matter has been filed under Sections 74 and 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Section 74 pertains to the attack or use of criminal force against a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty, while Section 75 deals with sexual nuisance.
Produced together by Babu Shahir, Soubin Shahir, and Shawn Antony, Manjummel Boys was directly inspired by a real-life incident. It may take place in 2006 at the Guna Caves in Kodaikanal. The film works as a group of friends whose holiday turns into a rescue mission after one of them gets trapped inside the caves. Covered on a reported budget of Rs 20 crore, the film rightly moved to get the turnover of Rs 200 crore across the world.
Authorities for Malayalam cinema controversy stated that extra procedural steps were taken. It comprises the comparison examination of the allegations and the collection of appropriate evidence, which will follow.
